Gered Mankowitz
Website Gered Mankowitz
Details Gered Mankowitz is regarded as one of the greatest rock photographers of the last 50 years.

In 1963, Gered met and photographed the singing duo Chad and Jeremy, who had just signed with Ember records.  One of these photos was used as the cover of the duo's first album, "Yesterday's Gone", and Gered found himself working in the music industry at a time when it desperately needed new, mould breaking images.  He began to work with a new generation of producers like John Barry, Shel Talmy and Chris Blackwell photographing artists who were of his own age group and who felt at ease with him in a way that had not been possible with other photographers.
At the end of 1963 Gered opened his first studio, at 9 Masons Yard in the heart of London's West End.  On one side was the infamous disco "The Scotch of St.James", hangout of the pop glitterati of the time, and on the other the art gallery "Indica", partly financed by The Beatles and where John Lennon met Yoko Ono.
Within a few months Gered had already begun to make a name for himself, and he was approached to photograph Marianne Faithful, who had just had a big hit with "As Tears Go By".  Working closely with Marianne he got to know her manager and producer Andrew Loog Oldham.  In early 1965, Oldham asked him to photograph the Rolling Stones, who he also managed and produced.  This was a major turning point in Gered's career, because from this first session came the cover for "Out of Our Heads" (U.S. title "December's Children"), and as a result he was asked by the Stones to go to America with them on their record breaking 1965 autumn tour.  During this 9 week (48 city) tour of the U.S. Gered photographed the Stones on stage and off, and got particularly close to Keith and Charlie.  There were many adventures as Gered found himself on the road with the greatest Rock band in the world at the peak of their original success.  Gered continued working with the Stones as their 'official' photographer, producing photos for albums ("Between the Buttons";  "Got Live If You Want It";  "Big Hits"; and several others), press and publicity, taken at home, in the recording studio, on stage and behind the scenes until 1967, when the band broke off with their manager, Oldham.

Through the 60's, Gered continued in the music world working with Oldham at his famous Immediate label, and with many other major artists including Jimi Hendrix, Free, Traffic, The Yardbirds, The Small Faces and Soft Machine. In to the 70's with Slade, Gary Glitter, Suzi Quatro, Sweet, Elton John, Kate Bush, Eurythmics, ABC, Duran Duran and many others.

Some of his portraits of rock musicians, such as The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Slade, are now part of the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery.

Gordon Ayres - Vintage and Hollywood Glamour Style Photography
Website Gordon Ayres

Hollywood Glamour, Vogue, Musician, Burlesque, Film Noir, Vintage, World War II, Travel in the 30s and 40s, English Country House

Gordon Ayres has been photographing the British and Continental 1930s, 40s, 50s retro scene for over 20 years, following the people who have created a unique look and sound - from the bands and dancers, to the fans who populate this stylish, secretive underworld movement.

Using techniques culled from the classic Hollywood period, Ayres finds inspiration in both the studio glamour photographers of the time, and the grainy reportage style of the dime newspaper reporters.

Film Noir is an inspiration for scene set shots, and similar lighting suits the exotic allure of Burlesque ,and smoky night-club musician photographs.

By contrast the elegance of Vogue-magazine-style portraits of ladies with hats and gloves at a Paris cafe, or snaps of people in evening clothes at a Swiss hotel in the thirties-give an impression of a bygone era.

Use of quality vintage lens and studio lamps create the exact feel of the look of the 20s to the 50s- for whatever the occasion.

Rockarchive - Limited Edition Rock and Roll Photographic Prints
Details Photographer Jill Furmanovsky registered a website called in 1998. The idea behind it was to make her work, and that of other rock photographers and visual artists, more accessible to fans and collectors. To launch the project, Jill selected 30 classic black and white images of major rock artists from her 30 year archive, to make into an edition of 30 darkroom prints.

Whether capturing the spirit of a live show, collaborating directly with musicians to create unforgettable record covers, or shooting timeless documentary images, Rockarchive's distinguished contributors continue to work directly at the source. The company's philosophy is to accord recognition to the art of rock photography and to help maintain the rights of its practitioners. Rockarchive promotes lesser known work by high profile photographers and the work of up and coming photographers.

Many collectors seek out Rockarchive's exclusive, embossed fine-art prints as an investment. Some images have increased ten fold in value since they were first published.

The Contemporary Collection images are exclusive to Rockarchive as fine art prints in editions of 300. Each print is numbered, captioned and embossed with the authentic Rockarchive logo - now available from £49.99. Ltd

Silver Bullet Caravans - Airstream caravan imports from America, top quality trailers for sale
Website Silver Bullet Caravans
Details Silver Bullet Caravans Ltd was established to carry out a wide range of conversion works on vintage aluminium American caravans - our work has predominantly involved the Airstream brand. As part of our continuing research and development work, our craftsmen have designed a range of own-brand Silver Bullet TM caravans, built using traditional methods and materials, to capture the feel of those 1950's classics, combined with the latest technology, for the best of both worlds.

Our workshops are now building Silver Bullets TM to customer order for both leisure and commercial clients - you're very welcome to come and take a look round our manufacturing facility, and discover the advantages of buying a brand new retro-styled aluminium caravan, which can be custom-built to your own specification.

Don't Talk To Me About Heroes - Iconic People, Iconic Photographers, Iconic Tees
Website Don't Talk To Me About Heroes
Details It's easy to forget that Keith Richards wasn't always Jack Sparrow's dad or just how stunning was Debbie Harry. It's easy to forget how immense the arrival of punk and hip-hop were. It's easy to forget that John Lydon didn't always sell butter or Iggy Pop, insurance.

Taking home a new album had a real sense of occasion, the anticipation, handing over hard-won cash, poring over outer and inner sleeves while the record played it's way into your psyche.

Likewise, the weekly fix of the NME, Sounds or Melody Maker, whether read alone with a cup of tea and a record on or spread out to share was an event to be relished. Inevitably, the best pictures were cut out and stuck on the wall.

These photographs from the Sixties through to the present represent a vanishing era when a great photograph was the product of skill and vision and artistry. Only now does the technology exist to do them justice in a medium other than traditional print.

Our t-shirts are printed direct-to-garment with all the punch and clarity of a print on paper, you'll want to frame these t-shirts not wear them. Don't do that. Enjoy the anticipation, the arrival and the unwrapping and then wear them. Wear them and love them until they're threadbare and disintegrating, then frame them.

I wanted a medium to share my life's work and allow members of the public to have a look round and if they like it - buy it, as everything you see here is for sale.

For pricing, please email me and I will get back to you with details.

The development of the site will continue and more of my work will be added with time, so please, take a good look round, enjoy, and come back again soon.
