Digger: Can you please tell us a little bit about the background to
Bow and Crossbones?
Cam: I started out piecing kitsch
charms together for friends and family and realised that I was onto something! It just grew and grew from there.
At the moment we are
now stocking women's and men's clothing and expanding our 50’s
reproduction jewellery, using vintage beads and charms.
Digger: Who are your customers, where
are they coming from and what sort of feedback and comments are you
getting from clients?
Cam: We have such a huge range of
products - so a huge range of great customers! We also stock around
30-40 stockists from around the world, including from Australia and America!
Our customers are regularly commenting on how unique, quirky and
inexpensive our jewellery is while being such great quality.
Digger: Please tell us more about the
various Vintage, Rockabilly and Kitsch clothing, jewellery and
accessories you offer.
Cam: We have an awesome range of
ladies Rockabilly skirts and tops. We have had these for a while now,
while the
hotrod/Rockabilly men's tees are a new addition.
Digger: Can you tell us about some of
the shows you attend around the UK?
Cam: We are almost always on the
road. We do a lot of car shows, (drag racing/show and shine)
Rockabilly weekenders and small vintage fairs. We are getting ready
to do a festive 'popup shop' in Birmingham city centre from 8th-23rd
December.
Digger: What items tend to be the
most sought after and the biggest sellers?
Cam: Our biggest sellers tend to be
the more quirkier items that we make, like our bamboo bags and
accessories!
Digger: What do you most enjoy about
running the Bow and Crossbones business and what are your Retro and
Vintage passions?
Cam: I love running Bow & Crossbones,
especially doing shows, meeting people & dancing! Lol!
We tend to have a passion for 40/50’s treats that we can find.
Digger: What impact has The Internet
on what you do?
Cam: The Internet helps us massively.
As we are an online boutique, we can reach the far corners of the
earth.
Digger: Where do you see the future
for Bow and Crossbones?
Cam: As always we are designing and planning to get the most interesting individual items
to our customers. We would like to possibly open a little boutique
somewhere in the UK.
We are already living the dream, as all I ever wanted was to be able
to work part time on B&C, but now I work full-time and have 2 part
timers helping out! |
