This is a swashbuckling romp which involves one of the longest sword fights in movie history, and nearly cost Stewart Granger's wife, Jean Simmons dearly. In a fit of temper in rehearsals he let go of his sword, and it narrowly missed spectator Jean's face.

Janet learned to ride sidesaddle in this movie, a skill which she would use again in "The Black Shield of Falworth".
