The
Manchurian Candidate
1962
Starring
Janet Leigh
Laurence Harvey
Frank Sinatra
Angela Lansbury
The Chinese capture some
US soldiers, brainwash them
and set one of them to assassinate the presidential candidate
and anyone else who gets in the way.
Janet's small role in
this picture was filmed on the same day
she parted with Tony Curtis after their 10-year marriage.
Although upset she was determined to put in a great performance.
Ironically, the brothel scene in the first few minutes of the
movie
shows one of the Korean girls reading a movie fan mag
with a loving Janet and Tony on the cover.
The subject matter of
this film is strangely prophetical
given the events of November of 1963
Frank Sinatra
and
Janet Leigh
were both big supporters of the Kennedy campaign.
