The Ugliest Cars in
Britain is a website after our own heart. This highly amusing site
looks at, well, the ugliest cars in Britain. Obviously this is a very
subjective topic, although we agreed with every single one that had
been posted the last time we looked. I have always wondered at the
dubious design characteristics of the Citroen DS, for example, which
looked to me like a car after it had been involved in a bit of
unpleasantness on an icy day at Beachy Head.
The beauty of this site is that
people can submit their own additions and there are no boring
technical or design considerations to deter inclusion. If people think
it is ugly, then it IS ugly.
Cars are awarded a
paper bag rating (PBR), being the number of paper bags you would have
to wear over your head before being seen in the car. Not ones to
encourage inattention to safety issues, the site authors make sure
that these paper bags have holes in them for the eyes.
Here below are a
selection of our favourites from the site, but please also visit www.uglycars.co.uk
at your earliest convenience.
Citroen : DS (PBR - 5)

Known to strange individuals as "The Goddess."
Obviously this was the Goddess of people with vision defects. For some
bizarre reason many people seem to think that this car is a design
classic. We think not. It's as attractive as a slug-filled croissant.
Citroen : 2CV (PBR- 4)

This used to be the preferred transport for teachers,
eco-warriors, weird-beards and people who don't wash their hair. The
2Cv was modelled on a boating accident that occurred in Cherbourg in
1923.
Morris : Marina (PBR- 2)

Another nail in the coffin of British Leyland. It looked about
as appealing as a snog with Thora Hird. Later they changed its name to
the Ital and tried to convince us that it was a different car - I
wonder why that didn't work?
Many thanks to Phil at www.uglycars.co.uk

his website (sorry)
