Cortina

World of Cortina is a site that looks at all the different aspects of the
name - the Ford Cortina being the main one people will know and love best.
Cortina, the Italian town, is where it all started, when the town hosted the 1956 Winter
Olympics. This soon put the town on the world map, not just for holidays, but for other
sporting events.
This in turn is where the Dream was born for the Ford Cortina, with a racy Italian name
and slick lines and style the car was born and soon became an icon to many people around
the world. It quickly became an instant success, both in rally sport, and in terms of
sales, becoming a million-seller many times over.
Soon, other companies started to use the Cortina name - there are many around the world
that have made products with the name, and this site will try and bring you as many as
possible.
Please use the site as a reference point to see what you might be missing from your
collection or just to see what you may not know about the World of Cortina. We aim to
update the site all of the time with new and exciting things.
The Ford motor company celebrates its centenary this year and the role the Ford Cortina
played in the last century is, of course, very significant.
As you can see, Cortina has captured my imagination and I hope that, via my website, you
get some pleasure, memories and information from it too.
