We profile
our most retro client - Peter Moore, The London Town Crier
When we started retrosellers, one of our hopes was that it would develop
into a diverse and comprehensive site, covering all aspects of retro
and nostalgia. Our prayers were soon answered with the 'arrival' of
Peter Moore. He has been The London Town Crier for over 25 years,
often covering a 'beat' from the Tower of London to Trafalgar square
via Parliament square. When not in London, he is a regular guest of
ceremonies, functions, parties and celebrations the world over. Bringing
his distinctively British authority to many occasions, I spoke to
him recently on the phone and sensed a man who knew how to keep things
under control. With a posh, deep and impressively booming theatrical
voice, Peter also makes a good living out of being Master of Ceremonies
at events ranging from openings to prize-givings.
"8 o'clock and all is well" - Peter Moore
Just a few of the myriad societies and organisations to which Peter
belongs:
- The Guild of Freeman of the City of London
- The Association of Freeman of England and Wales
- The Guild of Mace-Bearers
- London Tourist Board
- Association of British Toastmasters
- The Britannic Guild Of Toastmasters
- The Guild of Town Criers
- Chairman of the National Association of Street Entertainers
- Fellow of the Loyal company of Town Criers
- Southwark Heritage Association
- British, Actor's Equity
- Southwark Chamber of Commerce

"Oyez, oyez, oyez" - it's Peter Moore
Peter's motto is 'Have bell, will travel' and he is officially
Town Crier to the Mayor of London and The Greater London Authority.
Other distinctions include Freeman of the City of London and Beadle
to the Court Leet of Southwark and the City of London. He is also
known as Ye olde English (Londone) Towne Cryer, which, I must admit,
plays havoc with my spell-checker as I don't have on olde English
setting.
Now that Peter has joined us at retrosellers, we have decided to
introduce a 'retro retro' section of the site, to cater for retro
and nostalgia long gone i.e. prior to 20th century. More news on
this shortly.
You can find out more about Mr. Moore on his website, accessible
from the Entertainers category of our directory.
